2012 Nissan Tiida pedal-pads: what they do and when to replace them
Based on the Nissan Tiida C11 Service Manual (2012 MY) and the Nissan Electronic Parts Catalogue for the C11 series, the 2012 Nissan Tiida is fitted with removable rubber pedal pads on the brake pedal, and on the clutch pedal for manual-transmission models. The accelerator is a moulded pedal assembly without a separate rubber pad. This layout is also reflected in common aftermarket catalogues and workshop references such as the Haynes Nissan Versa/Tiida manual.
On a 2012 Tiida, pedal pads exist for one reason above all: grip. These rubber covers give the driver secure footing on the brake and, if fitted, the clutch—especially in wet or muddy conditions. They also cushion pedal feel, cut down on vibration and noise, and protect the metal pedal face from wear. When the rubber hardens or goes shiny-slick, braking confidence drops and stopping distances can blow out if a foot slips, so roadworthy and WOF inspections in AU/NZ often flag missing, damaged, or excessively worn pads.
- Tell-tale signs a fresh set is due: smooth or glossy rubber, visible cracks, hardening, torn edges, or a pad that can be moved or peeled back easily.
- Inspection rhythm: check at every service or roughly every 10,000–15,000 km, and always after a muddy, beach, or snow season.
Replacement is a quick, tool-free job on the Tiida. A genuine or quality aftermarket pad is stretched over the pedal face, seating the rubber lip fully around the metal plate—start at the top edge and work down. Warming the pad slightly helps it slip on neatly. For manuals, match clutch and brake pad patterns
