2011 Nissan Pathfinder tail-lights
Tail-lights are fitted and very much relevant to the 2011 Nissan Pathfinder (R51). This is confirmed by technical sources including the 2011 Nissan Pathfinder Owner’s Manual and Factory Service Manual, and by regulatory requirements such as the Australian Design Rules (e.g., ADR 13/00 and ADR 49/00) and New Zealand’s Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Lighting 2004, which mandate rear position lamps, stop lamps, indicators and a number plate light for road-legal operation.
On the R51 Pathfinder, the tail-light assemblies house the red rear position lights, brake lights, rear indicators, reverse lights and the number plate illumination. Their job is simple but critical: let others see the vehicle in low light, show when it’s slowing or stopping, and clearly signal turns or reversing. For family hauling, towing a camper, or tackling a wet evening on the Coast, bright, compliant lighting is a must.
Owners will find routine tail-light care straightforward and well worth folding into regular servicing. Most market variants use replaceable 12V bulbs for tail/stop, indicator and reverse functions, while the high-mount stop lamp may vary by trim. Always match bulb type and wattage to the Owner’s Manual to maintain correct brightness and avoid electrical gremlins.
- Inspect lenses and operation monthly, and before long trips or WOF/RWC checks.
- Replace dull or failed bulbs in pairs (left/right) to keep brightness even.
- Avoid touching the glass of new bulbs
