2011 Nissan Dualis oil pump — what it does, why it matters, and how to look after it
Technical sources confirm the 2011 Nissan Dualis does use an engine oil pump. The Nissan J10 series service manual (Qashqai/Dualis, MR20DE petrol) shows a crankshaft-driven, trochoid-style oil pump integrated into the timing chain cover in the Lubrication (LU) section. Nissan’s electronic parts catalogue (FAST) also lists an “Oil Pump Assy” for J10 MR20DE variants, and general workshop references such as the Qashqai/Dualis 2007–2013 manuals outline the same lubrication layout. So yes — this Dualis is definitely fitted with an oil pump.
The oil pump is the heart of the Dualis’ lubrication system, circulating oil under pressure to bearings, camshafts and the timing chain so everything runs smoothly and stays cool. Without steady pressure, metal parts wear fast, heat builds up, and the engine’s life shortens. On the MR20DE petrol, the pump is tucked into the front cover and spins off the crank, drawing oil through the pickup in the sump and pushing it through the filter and galleries.
In normal Kiwi and Aussie driving, the pump itself rarely fails
