2010 Toyota Crown clutch-kit — is it relevant?

Short answer: a conventional clutch kit isn’t used on the 2010 Toyota Crown. Technical references including Toyota’s Electronic Parts Catalogue (EPC) and service literature (TIS), plus transmission application data for Aisin 6-speed units and model specs for the S200-series Crown (GRS200/201/202/204 and GWS204), show the 2010 Crown was built with automatic transmissions only: Aisin A760E/A760H 6-speed autos on petrol V6 models and an eCVT hybrid transaxle on the Crown Hybrid. No factory manual transmission or clutch pedal is listed for this generation, so there’s no traditional clutch disc/pressure plate/release bearing “clutch kit” to fit.

What does that mean for servicing? On the non-hybrid Crown, drive-off is handled by a torque converter and internal multi-plate clutch packs inside the automatic. These aren’t serviced as an external “clutch kit.” On the hybrid, the eCVT uses motor-generators within a transaxle and also has no conventional clutch assembly. If a listing shows a clutch kit for a 2010 Crown, it’s typically a catalogue mix-up with older Crowns that did offer manuals, or a generic “Crown” catch-all that doesn’t apply to the S200 series.

What owners should look at instead:

  • Automatic transmission fluid (ATF) — Toyota WS grade, serviced per local conditions. While Toyota often calls WS “lifetime,” many AU/NZ workshops recommend fluid exchange and pan service around 60,000–100,000 km, especially if towing or driving in hot or hilly conditions.
  • Transmission filter/strainer, pan gasket/seal, and magnets — inspect and replace/clean during a pan-off service.
  • Hybrid transaxle fluid (for GWS204) — change intervals based on usage
