2009 Toyota Corolla Fielder Temperature Sensors

Temperature sensors are absolutely used on the 2009 Toyota Corolla Fielder. Toyota’s service literature for the E15# series (Corolla/Corolla Fielder Repair Manual and Electrical Wiring Diagram) details the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor, Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor integrated with the MAF on many trims, air‑conditioning evaporator and ambient temperature sensors, and an automatic transmission fluid temperature sensor on auto models. These same sensors are also covered in Toyota engine control and A/C diagnostic sections for the 2ZR‑FE/1NZ‑FE engines and U34x-series automatic transaxles.

On this model, temperature sensors help the engine computer decide how much fuel to inject, set ignition timing, run the radiator fans, and manage cold starts. They also guide auto transmission shift strategy and protect the A/C system from icing the evaporator. When they’re healthy, the Corolla Fielder warms up cleanly, uses fuel sensibly, and keeps its cool on hot summer days across Aus and NZ.

  • ECT sensor: threaded into the water outlet/thermostat housing near the cylinder head.
  • IAT sensor: typically part of the MAF in the airbox snorkel.
  • ATF temperature sensor (autos): inside the transmission
