2009 Daihatsu Bego oil cap – what it is, why it matters, and how to look after it
Technical sources confirm the 2009 Daihatsu Bego does use an engine oil filler cap. The Toyota/Daihatsu Electronic Parts Catalog for the J200/J210 series (Toyota Rush/Daihatsu Bego/Terios) with the 3SZ-VE engine lists a dedicated oil filler cap (commonly referenced in Toyota EPC as Cap Sub-Assy, Oil Filler, p/n 12180-46010, with an equivalent Daihatsu part). The factory service manual’s Lubrication section and the owner’s manual illustrations also show the cap mounted on the rocker cover. So the oil cap is relevant, fitted, and essential on the 2009 Bego.
On a 2009 Daihatsu Bego, the oil cap seals the top of the engine’s oil filler neck, keeping dust, moisture, and road grit out of the oil galleries. It also helps maintain correct crankcase ventilation by preventing oil vapour from escaping under the bonnet, and it provides the safe access point for topping up engine oil. While it’s a simple twist-lock part with a rubber seal, it plays a big role in keeping the 3SZ-VE engine clean, tidy, and happy over big kilometres.
As part of routine servicing, the oil cap deserves a quick once-over. A tired or damaged cap can allow a light mist of oil to weep onto the rocker cover, create a whiff of burnt oil after a drive, and in some cases upset crankcase ventilation enough to cause a slightly rough idle. A cap that doesn’t lock positively can also vibrate loose, which is never ideal.
- Inspect the cap and its rubber seal at every oil change (typically 10,000–15,000 km).
- Wipe the filler neck clean before refitting
