2008 Toyota Aurion tail-lights
Tail-lights are absolutely relevant and factory‑fitted to the 2008 Toyota Aurion. This model uses rear combination lamp units that include tail (rear position) lamps, brake lamps, indicators and reverse lamps, as outlined in the Aurion owner’s manual. Their fitment and performance are required under the Australian Design Rules for lighting installation (e.g., ADR 13/00 and associated UNECE regs) and New Zealand’s Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Lighting 2004, so every road‑going Aurion must have working red tail lamps.
On the Aurion, the tail-lights switch on with the park/low‑beam lights to make the car visible from the rear in the dark, at dusk, or in poor weather. They provide a steady red glow distinct from the brighter brake lamps, helping drivers behind judge distance and speed without glare. Good lenses and reflectors keep the light even and compliant, which matters for roadworthy checks and WoF inspections.
Most 2008 Aurions run conventional incandescent bulbs in the rear clusters. That’s good news for servicing—bulbs are affordable and easy to swap. A quick six‑monthly check is a smart habit: make sure both sides illuminate evenly, look for cracks, dullness, or moisture inside the lens, and confirm the red is bright and uniform. Clean the lenses with a mild car‑wash solution only—harsh chemicals can haze the plastic and knock down light output.
- Replacement basics: Park safely, ignition off, open the boot and pull back the trim panel behind the lamp. Twist the bulb holder anticlockwise to remove, then swap in the correct type and wattage. Avoid touching the glass with bare fingers
