2008 Nissan Dualis oil pump — what it does and when to replace it

Yes, the 2008 Nissan Dualis is fitted with an engine oil pump. Technical sources including the Nissan Qashqai/Dualis J10 Factory Service Manual (Engine Mechanical – Lubrication System) and the Nissan electronic parts catalogue list an oil pump assembly for the MR20DE petrol (and other available engines), confirming this part is present and serviceable on the model.

The oil pump’s whole job is to move engine oil under pressure through galleries to bearings, camshafts, and the timing gear. On the Dualis, it’s a crankshaft-driven trochoid pump housed at the front of the engine. Good pressure keeps the big-end and main bearings floating on a film of oil, quietens valve gear, and supports the variable valve timing hardware. Without a healthy pump and clean oil, wear accelerates fast — especially on hot days and long motorway runs common in Australia and New Zealand.

There’s no routine “service” for the pump itself
