2007 Toyota Prius heater-core: what it is, how it works, and when to service it

Based on technical sources, the 2007 Toyota Prius (NHW20) does use a conventional heater core. Toyota’s Repair Manual for 2004–2009 Prius (HVAC Heating section), the New Car Features (NCF) manual for NHW20, and the Toyota Electronic Parts Catalogue all identify a “heater radiator (heater core)” within the HVAC unit. While some markets also received a small electric PTC supplemental heater, it doesn’t replace the heater core
