2007 Nissan Serena Exhaust Gasket

Based on the Nissan C25 Serena service manual (Engine Mechanical and Exhaust System sections) and the Nissan Electronic Parts Catalogue for the C25 platform, the 2007 Nissan Serena is fitted with exhaust gaskets. These include the manifold-to-cylinder head gasket, a “doughnut” or ring gasket at the front pipe joint, and flange gaskets around the catalytic converter and mid-pipe connections.

The exhaust gasket on a 2007 Nissan Serena does a deceptively big job for a small bit of material. It seals the joins in the exhaust system so the MR20DE’s hot gases are kept inside the pipework from the cylinder head right through to the tailpipe. That tight seal keeps noise down, prevents fumes sneaking into the cabin, and helps the oxygen sensors and catalytic converter do their thing properly. If a gasket goes hard, cracks, or gets pinched after the exhaust has been off the car, owners can end up with a tinny tick on cold start, a bit of soot around a flange, or even a whiff of exhaust where it shouldn’t be.

There’s no set replacement interval in the factory schedule, but these gaskets are consumables: any time an exhaust joint is undone on the Serena, a new gasket should go in. When servicing, it’s smart to give the system a once-over on the hoist. Look for blow-by marks, listen for chirps or tapping under load, and check that the spring bolts, studs and hangers aren’t past their best. On reassembly, clean the mating faces, fit an OE-quality or equivalent gasket that matches the flange style (the front pipe uses a crush/doughnut ring), and tighten hardware evenly to the service manual specs. If a stud’s corroded or a spring bolt has lost tension, replace it—cheap insurance against future leaks. Avoid smearing sealants around these joints
