2007 Honda Civic pedal pads — purpose, care, and when to replace
Based on Honda’s technical literature, pedal pads are indeed used on the 2007 Honda Civic. The Honda 2006–2011 Civic service manual and Honda EPC/parts catalogue list a clip-on rubber brake pedal pad for all models and a matching clutch pedal pad on manual variants. The accelerator is a moulded pedal assembly with an integral tread (no separate rubber pad). So for this model, “pedal pads” are relevant to the brake (and clutch on manuals), while the accelerator isn’t a replaceable pad.
On a 2007 Civic, the pedal pads do a simple but vital job: they provide grippy, vibration-damping contact so a driver’s shoes don’t slip—especially in wet, sandy, or muddy conditions common across Australia and New Zealand. The pads also protect the metal pedal plates and keep cabin noise down a touch. When they harden or wear smooth, stopping distances can creep out because the driver can’t apply consistent pressure as confidently, and that’s not a risk worth taking.
- Signs the pads need attention: shiny or “glazed” surfaces, cracking, hardening, missing chunks, curled edges, or the pad slipping on the pedal.
- If grip drops off when it’s raining or after a beach trip, the rubber may be contaminated or worn out.
Routine care is easy. During regular servicing of a 2007 Honda Civic, a quick clean with mild soap and water plus a soft brush will remove road film. Avoid silicone dressings or petroleum-based cleaners—they can make the rubber slippery or degrade it. Let the pads dry fully before driving.
Replacement is straightforward and inexpensive. Choose quality OEM or reputable aftermarket pads and match the transmission type: autos get a brake pad only
