2007 Ford Fiesta temperature sensors

Technical sources confirm the 2007 Ford Fiesta absolutely uses temperature sensors. The Ford Fiesta 2002–2008 Workshop Manual (Section 303-14: Electronic Engine Controls), the Haynes Fiesta Petrol & Diesel 2002–2008 manual (No. 4187), and Autodata wiring diagrams for 2007 Fiesta all show an Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor feeding the powertrain control module and, via CAN, the instrument cluster. Most petrol models also use an Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor, and many trims have an ambient air temp sensor for HVAC/outside temp display.

On a 2007 Fiesta, the ECT sensor is the key player. It lets the engine computer know exactly how hot the coolant is so it can set cold-start fuelling, ignition timing and idle speed, switch the radiator fans on, and drive the dash temp reading. The IAT sensor helps fine‑tune fuelling by tracking incoming air temp, while the ambient sensor gives the climate system a heads-up on cabin comfort and may feed the outside temperature display.
