2007 Ford Fiesta pedal pads: what they do and when to replace them
Based on technical sources including the Ford parts catalogue (Microcat/eCat listings for Fiesta 2002–2008, JH/JD) and the Ford owner’s and workshop literature, the 2007 Ford Fiesta is fitted with separate rubber pedal pads on the brake and clutch pedals. Most models use a moulded plastic accelerator pedal without a separate replaceable rubber pad.
On a 2007 Fiesta, the pedal pads are the grippy rubber covers that slip over the metal pedal arms. Their whole job is traction: they stop the driver’s foot sliding, especially when shoes are wet. The brake and clutch pads are wear items, so they’re checked during routine servicing and roadworthy/WOF inspections in Australia and New Zealand. If they’re smooth, cracked, loose, or missing, they should be replaced straight away.
As part of regular servicing, a quick inspection at each service interval (or roughly every 10,000–15,000 km) is smart. Look for:
- Hardened or shiny rubber that’s gone slick
- Cracks, splits, or missing chunks at the pad edges
- Pads that can be twisted on the pedal or don’t sit fully seated
Replacement is simple DIY and usually tool-free. Warm the new pads in hot water to make them pliable, then work the lip over the pedal plate, starting at one corner and rolling it on. A dab of mild soapy water can help, but avoid grease—slippery pedals are a hazard. After fitting, press the pedal hard a few times to confirm the pad doesn’t creep. For autos, you’ll typically replace only the brake pad
