2007 Ford Falcon Oil Cap — Purpose, Care, and When to Replace
According to Ford’s BF Falcon Owner’s Guide (2006–2008) and the Ford Workshop Manual for the Barra 4.0 and Boss 5.4 engines, a dedicated engine oil filler cap is fitted to all 2007 Ford Falcon variants. It sits on the rocker/valve cover under the bonnet, marked with the oil-can symbol and often the recommended viscosity. So yes—an oil cap absolutely applies to the 2007 Falcon.
This small bit of kit does more than just cover the hole. The oil cap seals the filler neck to keep dust, water, and road grime out of the engine, while helping maintain correct crankcase ventilation. On the BF’s petrol and LPG engines, the cap’s seal (usually an O-ring) supports PCV system performance and reduces the chance of oil mist or fumes escaping. During servicing, it’s the access point for topping up or refilling engine oil, so having a snug, undamaged cap is essential for clean, drama-free maintenance.
As part of regular servicing—about every 10,000–15,000 km or 12 months—it's smart to give the oil cap a quick once-over. Wipe off any grime, check the O-ring for hardening, cracks, or flattening, and make sure the cap threads or bayonet tabs aren’t chewed out. Refit the cap hand-tight—no tools—so it seats evenly. If it’s cross-threaded, back it off and try again
