2005 Daihatsu Terios Pedal Pads — Fitment, Purpose, and Service Advice

Technical sources confirm pedal pads are relevant and fitted to the 2005 Daihatsu Terios. The Daihatsu Terios J100/J102 Workshop Manual (Brake and Clutch — Pedal sections) and the Daihatsu Electronic Parts Catalogue (2005 model year) list a replaceable rubber pedal pad for the brake pedal (and the clutch on manual variants). The accelerator is a moulded pedal and generally not a removable rubber pad.

On a 2005 Terios, the humble pedal pad does an important job. It’s the grippy rubber face your foot presses on, helping stop slips in the wet and giving a consistent feel underfoot. Brake and (on manuals) clutch pedals use a replaceable rubber pad that’s designed to stay put on the steel pedal plate, soak up a bit of vibration, and provide a non-slip surface that holds up to everyday commuting, gravel tracks, and everything in between.

They’re wear items, so checking them during regular servicing makes sense. Over time, the rubber can harden, glaze smooth, crack, or even start to roll off the edges — all of which reduces grip, especially with wet shoes or muddy boots. If the Terios is an automatic, there’ll be one rubber pad on the brake pedal. If it’s a manual, there’ll be two: brake and clutch. The accelerator is typically a one-piece pedal assembly
