The 2004 Toyota Mark X is factory-fitted with full front headlights, using projector-style units on most trims. On the road, the headlights do the heavy lifting: lighting the way after dark, improving daytime visibility in rain and low sun, and making sure the Mark X is seen by other drivers. Good beams help with hazard detection at speed, reduce fatigue on long night drives, and keep the car compliant for rego or WOF checks. Clear lenses and correctly aimed lights are just as important as fresh bulbs.
For routine servicing, it’s smart to inspect the headlight lenses under the bonnet every few months or 5,000–10,000 kilometres. Look for haze or yellowing on the polycarbonate lens, moisture inside the housing, and any wiring wear near the rear caps. If one bulb goes, replace both sides together to keep the beam colour and brightness matched. After any bulb change, check the aim on level ground—especially if the Mark X has been lowered, loaded up for a trip, or has suspension work.
