That means the HZJ105R (Standard/WorkMate live-axle) models have hydraulic rear wheel cylinders. The UZJ100R (4.7 V8) and HDJ100R (4.2TD) independent front suspension models use four-wheel disc brakes with a drum-in-hat parking brake, so they don’t have hydraulic wheel cylinders on the rear.

For owners of a 2004 HZJ105R with rear drums, the brake wheel cylinders are the small hydraulic units mounted at the top of each rear backing plate. When you press the pedal, they push the brake shoes outwards against the drum to slow the vehicle. Their job is simple but critical: deliver consistent shoe force, keep the pedal feel solid, and hold pressure without leaks.
