2003 Ford Fiesta Headlights
Headlights are absolutely fitted and relevant on the 2003 Ford Fiesta. Technical references including the Ford Fiesta Owner’s Guide and 2002–2008 Ford Workshop Manual specify halogen headlamps as standard equipment, with low and high beam operation and beam-aim provisions. Regulatory standards applicable to AU/NZ right‑hand‑drive markets—such as ADR 13/00 (lighting installation), ADR 46/00 (headlamp visibility), and aligned ECE R48/R112—also require compliant, functioning headlights on this model.
On a 2003 Fiesta, the headlights do the heavy lifting after dark and in poor weather—projecting a clean, legal beam so the driver can see the road and be seen by others. Low beam handles everyday traffic without dazzling oncoming motorists, while high beam throws extra distance on open roads. Many cars of this era didn’t have factory DRLs in AU/NZ, so keeping the headlamps in top nick is a key safety move.
For servicing, it’s smart to inspect the lenses and operation at each service interval. Replace bulbs in pairs to keep brightness and colour consistent. Most 2003 Fiesta variants use halogen bulbs—commonly H4 60/55 W dual‑filament, though some markets used an H7 low/H1 high combination. Always confirm bulb type and wattage on the vehicle label or in the owner’s manual. Avoid over‑wattage bulbs that can overheat wiring or melt reflectors.
When replacing, open the bonnet, remove the rear dust cap, unplug the connector, release the spring clip, and swap the bulb without touching the glass. Refit the cap to keep moisture out. After installation, check the beam pattern on a wall and adjust using the headlamp adjusters
