2002 Daihatsu Terios Pedal Pads

Pedal pads are definitely relevant to the 2002 Daihatsu Terios. Factory documentation identifies rubber pads fitted to the brake pedal on all models, and to the clutch pedal on manual variants. The accelerator uses a different-style treaded face that isn’t a separate rubber pad. This is supported by the Daihatsu Terios J100/J102 Series Workshop Manual (Brake/Clutch Pedal sections) and corresponding Toyota/Daihatsu EPC listings for the Terios/Cami, which include “Pad, Pedal, Brake” (and for manuals, “Pad, Pedal, Clutch”).

On a 2002 Terios, the brake (and clutch, if manual) pedal pads are simple but important safety items. They’re the removable rubber covers that provide grip underfoot so shoes don’t slip when it’s wet, muddy, or you’ve just jumped back in after the beach. Over time the rubber hardens, smooths off, or cracks. When that happens, braking feel can suffer and the risk of a foot slipping increases—especially in the wet. In some states and territories in Australia, and for WoF checks in New Zealand, a missing or excessively worn brake pedal pad can attract a defect or fail an inspection.

As part of routine servicing for a Terios of this age, it’s smart to visually inspect the pads every 10,000–15,000 km or at each service. Look for polished smooth spots, splits, or edges lifting away from the metal pedal. If the pad has gone hard or glossy, replace it. The job is quick: lever off the old rubber, clean the pedal plate with a rag, then work the new pad over the lip starting from one corner. No special tools required—just patience and maybe a dab of mild soapy water to help it slip on. For manuals, repeat for the clutch.

Genuine and quality aftermarket pads both fit fine
