On a 1997 Jimny, the headlights pull double duty: lighting up unsealed tracks after dark and making the little 4x4 clearly visible in city traffic. Most vehicles of this year run round halogen reflector lamps that take an H4 dual‑filament bulb, giving both low and high beam from a single globe. Keeping them bright, correctly aimed, and watertight is a simple win for safety—and a must for WOF/roadworthy checks.
As part of routine servicing, it’s smart to inspect the lenses for yellowing, crazing, or moisture inside, and to test both beams. - Aim: Check headlight aim on a flat surface against a wall, or have a workshop align to ADR/NZ specifications.
