1993 Nissan Primera headlights
Headlights are absolutely fitted to and relevant for the 1993 Nissan Primera (P10). This is documented in the Nissan Primera P10 factory service manual and owner’s manual lighting sections, and required by Australian Design Rules (ADR 13/00 and ADR 46/00) as well as New Zealand’s Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Lighting 2004. Those technical sources mandate compliant headlamps for safe road use, so this model ships with halogen headlights from factory.
On a ’93 Primera, the headlights do the heavy lifting for night driving and poor weather, projecting a legal beam pattern suited to right-hand-drive markets like Australia and New Zealand. The units are halogen reflector lamps, typically using an H4 60/55W dual‑filament bulb for low and high beam in one globe. Keeping them in good nick means better visibility, less fatigue, and a happier WOF or rego inspection.
When it’s time to replace a bulb, it’s a straightforward job under the bonnet. Access the rear of the headlamp, pop off the dust cap, unclip the spring retainer, and swap the H4 globe. Don’t touch the glass with bare fingers—oils shorten bulb life. Refit carefully, ensuring the rubber boot seals out moisture. It’s smart to replace bulbs in pairs so colour and brightness match. Stick with the factory wattage
