GME On-Glass Antennas

The GME on-glass antennas are just as good performance wise as a normal UHF antenna of the same specifications. They are designed to be discreet. This means you don’t need to mount an antenna to the outside of your vehicle where it sticks up and can get caught on the scenery, detract from your view across the bonnet, or get stolen.

These units have a self-adhesive backing and stick to the inside of a windscreen or rear window. Being inside, GME on-glass antennas are kept out of the elements, so they won’t get damaged or cause wind noise during driving. They also have a screw on connector and cabling to reach your UHF radio. 

The AE5004 has a 4.5 dBi gain and is a good all-rounder. The main antenna rectangle is only 140mm high x 271mm wide. The connector sticks out a further 25mm by 17.5mm wide which is not a large footprint. When choosing antennas make sure the gain matches the environment you are using it in. Lower dBi numbers are better for hilly terrain, while higher dBi numbers are better for wide open country.

When selecting antennas, it is essential to consider the dBi gain and how it aligns with the environment where the antenna will be used. The gain of an antenna directly impacts its radiation pattern, which determines how signals are distributed in specific directions. For environments with hilly or uneven terrain, lower dBi antennas are often the better choice as their wider radiation pattern provides better omnidirectional coverage, ensuring strong signal performance even in areas with obstacles.
