How To Top Up Your Windscreen Washer Fluid

Dirty water on your windscreen after a bout of rain is especially annoying when you realise you haven't topped up your wiper fluid. Your wipers ineffectually sliding across the glass with a rubbery whine won't help much either and if the water is dirty enough, or there is enough grime from nasty birds and other sources, plain water won't get you much further.
What you're going to need is some proper washer fluid additive, which generally uses a mix of detergents and other cleaning chemicals to cut through grease and grime and give you clearer eyes on the road.
Step By Step for Topping Up Washer Fluid
Firstly, locate your washer fluid container. It will usually be located under the bonnet, near the windscreen and will be a transparent or opaque container with an easily identifiable lid. Usually it will be labelled, either with words or symbols. Ensure you don't mix it up with your brake fluid container, as they can often be located in a similar place.
Open the cap and add your windscreen washer fluid. Follow the directions on your additive's bottle. If you're looking for a cheaper option, a touch of household detergent can do the trick, although often a little less effectively, you'll only need a few squirts.

Top the container up with clean water, making sure not to overfill the reservoir.

Once done, close the cap tightly.
