What To Look for When Doing a Visual Vehicle Inspection

A visual vehicle inspection is something you should aim to do at least once a month. It'll generally only take you 15 minutes and is a great way to pick up on all small issues that might build up over time otherwise.
Regularly checking the vehicle's exterior, interior, and under the bonnet can help maintain its performance, safety, and longevity. For instance, things like minor leaks of coolant or oil can be signs of more serious mechanical problems that can cause vehicle failure down the line, and these are easily spotted during a visual inspection. It's also a great opportunity to clean areas of your car that may be getting buildups of dirt and grime.
Step By Step for a Visual Vehicle Inspection
Next, lift the wipers and check for any damage or wear on the rubber and plastic.
Check the clutch and brake reservoir fluid levels and look out for leaks.
Make sure your windscreen washer fluid is topped up as well.
For seatbelts, check for any damage like cuts or fraying, as they can get trapped in doors during general use and slowly deteriorate.
Check all of your lights, including brake lights and indicators, to make sure that they are functioning correctly. You'll need a second set of eyes to check the brake lights.

In the engine bay, check the coolant and oil levels to ensure they are topped up and that there are no leaks. Power steering and automatic transmission fluid levels can be checked as well.
Make sure to take a look at your drive belts for wear and tear.
