An air freshener goes a long way towards making your car interior a more pleasant place to be, especially on long drives.

Masking the scents of muddy 4WDing trips or simply keeping your car smelling clean and fresh can be done in a number of different ways, with the classic hanging car air freshener being just one of them.

Hanging units are traditionally strung up on the rearview mirror but you can also hang them from your steering wheel or any other piece of your car's interior that will support it.

You can also get vent-mounted air fresheners and California Scents makes air fresheners in a can, which can be stored under your seat, in your cup holder, or wherever is most convenient. This is great for people who don't want anything obstructing their vision or distracting them while driving.

These come with a plastic lid that has ventilation holes that can be adjusted to allow as much or as little fragrance into your interior as you like.

If you're placing them in your cup holder, you'll want to be careful with drinks, as spilling liquids into the can is obviously going to affect the fragrance!
