How To Check Your Tyre Pressure

Checking your tyre pressure is an important part of vehicle maintenance. Low tyre pressure can cause your vehicle to be unstable, have poorer handling, and require longer stopping distances for braking. Because of increased rolling resistance the tyre will also have an increased chance of overheating and blowing out, which is a sure-fire way to land yourself in a serious accident.
Luckily, checking your tyre pressure is incredibly easy, and there are several different tools that make reading your tyre pressure a simple task.
Step By Step for Checking Your Tyre Pressure
Check the recommended tyre pressure for your vehicle. This information can usually be found on a sticker on the driver's side door jam or in your owner's manual.

Unscrew the tyre valve and attach your tyre pressure gauge. Make sure it is straight and that there is no sound of air escaping.
Whether using a round gauge or stick gauge, you'll get a readout in kPa or psi. Make sure it aligns with your manufacturer's recommended tyre pressure for your vehicle.

Once you have gotten the readout, reattach the tyre valve to the tyre.
Check the tyre pressure of your spare wheel to make sure it will be up to the task if you get a puncture.
