How To Use a Car Polisher

Using a car polisher with a foam pad can really boost the natural shine and gloss of your paintwork. The foam pad spreads the polish evenly, giving you a smooth, uniform finish that makes your vehicle look fantastic. It’s great at tackling minor scratches, swirl marks, and other surface imperfections, bringing back the paint's original smoothness and clarity.
Another benefit is that, while polishing doesn’t add a protective layer on its own, it sets the stage perfectly for applying wax or sealant, helping these protective products stick better and work more effectively.
Step By Step for Polishing Your Car's Paint
Polish small areas at a time rather than trying to do the entire surface at once. A good rule of thumb is to do sections that are roughly 6x the size of the pad with each pass. Perform 6 passes across the surface area you have chosen, 3 horizontal and 3 vertical. This will ensure an even coat across your paintjob.
Apply the polish directly onto the pad, not onto the surface you intend to polish. For a smaller pad, use 3-4 small squirts of the polish and up to 6 with a larger pad.

Rest the pad lightly on the panel and start the machine on low speed. Let it sit there for about 20 seconds to work the polish into the pad.
When ready, increase the speed and begin the 6-pass process on the area you have chosen.
Repeat this process for the entire surface, ensuring not to put too much pressure on the paint while polishing.

Once you have finished, wipe off any residue with a clean microfibre cloth to achieve the best shine.
