Dirty 30 4WD rig rundown

Well, after years of planning and building, Shaun Whale's Dirty 30 is finally finished! We reckon this is one of the most unique Toyota LandCruisers ever built!
Here’s an in-depth list of the gear used on The Dirty 30 so that you can replicate it on your own 4WD:
The Build
The Dirty 30 started life as a Toyota LandCruiser Sahara 60 Series and has since been chopped into a single-cab Ute — 30 is half of 60, hence the name.
This build started from the chassis up, as it is sort of a Frankenstein LandCruiser, with parts from all sorts of Toyotas. The chassis and solid axle setup are from an 80 Series, the engine and transmission are from a 100 Series, and the body is a 60 Series.

The Dirty 30 Exterior
The Dirty 30 is painted in the classic yet beautiful Sandy Taupe and is kitted out with custom bar work and now a Mits Alloy tray and half-canopy package built with strength, weight, and usability in mind — as well as an inbuilt water tank for long trips.
Shauno is running a Runva 11XP Red Edition winch, with an in-cabin switch to control the winch without the use of a remote. Also, on the exterior, you can see his 6.6 DBI GME UHF antenna that is connected in-cab to an XRS-370c.
In terms of camp comfort, the 30 is kitted out with a hard-top rooftop tent and a simple 2.5m x 2.5m awning for shelter —these were removed for his USA trip to save weight on shipping. He keeps his spare parts in a heavy-duty box that he has DIY-fitted MaxTrax mounting pins to in order to fit his four colour-coordinated tan MaxTrax XTremes for ease of access.
Depending on the length of his trip, Shaun will run at least one MyCoolman fridge in the canopy on a drop-down fridge slide, and sometimes an extra fridge in the tray too. This, as well as the rest of his 12V accessories, are powered by a RedArc Red Vision system and 200Ah of lithium.

The Dirty 30 Interior
The inside of this rig has been kept quite simple as it is only a single cab, so space is limited. Not much has been upgraded besides the head unit and aftermarket seats. All his 12V and lighting controls are in the cabin, and he runs a VMS for off-road navigation.

Suspension, Tyres, & 4WD
The Dirty 30 is running a 3-inch remote res suspension lift, with coils front and rear. This is ideal for tough tracks and long corrugated roads.
In terms of tyres, the 30 has got 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Mud Terrain tyres on 15-inch bead lock Dirty Life rims. When Shauno takes this rig to the USA, he is going to upgrade to 37-inch tyres as it is legal to do so without extra certification.

Lighting
Running the theme that Shauno is afraid of the dark, he has spared no expense in his lighting. Up front on the bull bar is a pair of STEDI Type-X Pro 8.5-inch lights, complete with a replacement tan colour ring. Along with these spotties, the 30 has replacement STEDI 7-inch globes to fully upgrade his headlights.
On the roof for extra night vision, there are four STEDI Quad Pro lights and a 7-inch light on either side for camp lighting.

Engine & Performance
The Dirty 30 is the 1HD-FTE 4.2L 6-cylinder turbo diesel from a 100 Series LandCruiser, fitted with a bigger turbo running 20 PSI and is tuned to get over 700Nm of torque and 220hp – this is a sensible yet major upgrade from originally maxing out at 199Nm and 47kW. The 30 breathes through a 4” stainless steel snorkel and a custom airbox for ultimate performance. The engine is also fitted with a PWR intercooler.
In terms of transmission, the Dirty 30 is running a tuned 5-speed Tiptronic automatic from a 100 Series, which has manual capabilities for ensuring his 4WD stays in the gear Shauno wants while off-roading. He chose this for control when 4WDing and ease of driving on any surface.
Of course, for 4WDing, this build is twin-locked with air lockers in both front and rear from an onboard air compressor, ready for any challenge Shaun points the nose at. The braking system has also been overhauled with a Bendix 4WD Upgrade Kit.
The Verdict
This is the LandCruiser of all LandCruisers, with everything custom-made for a unique build. This is built to be a one-of-a-kind 4WD machine that is the pinnacle of Aussie 4WDs that can tackle any track with ease.
